Wow! Hello there

I know...I haven't updated this in a long time. For those that do read this I am sorry.
Basically a few things have happened that prevented this. First off I became an Admin on RetrowareTV so I was doing lots of editing and posting on there for my own stuff and the other contributors. So double posting on here with a little blogging kinda fell to the wayside. Secondly I've been heavily active in both my solo acoustic music and my new band. Music is my career first and while making these video has become very important to me and I try and combine the two passions from time to time it gets hard to maintain so much.

But the main thing is, I'm not sure what to do here. I'm thinking a new site is in order but no matter what this one needs to be cleaned up. So suggestions are welcome! I've been thinking of new videos I can create on the side and semi quickly that I can post outside of RWTV like I use to as well which would be a good thing for a site like this.

I've been so bad about updating this since all my videos actually have their own page at RetrowareTV now. I need to clean this whole site up and make it more productive.
Anyway! There have been two new videos!

Yeah! So I decided to review a modern game. But I compare the new Wii remake (or Wiimake) of GoldenEye to the classic for N64.

In this video I basically continue the Ghostbusters Halloween Special and review the Ghostbusters game for Sega Genesis. I got a lot of "Why didn't you review the Genesis game!?" comments when I made my halloween special....WELL HERE IT IS GET OFF MY BACK! I'm just kidding! I was going to get to it eventually.

Yep that is right! RetroActive is now a MAIN contributor on RetrowareTV.com. What does this mean you ask? Well, I get my own fancy page, forum, and a new bump in front of my videos. But it should mean more exposure, which is always nice. I'm pretty excited about it! I am SO excited to release this video. For those that know me Ghostbusters is a good chunk of my life so this video was going to happen eventually. This video has a guest appearance by Vee and some other shenanigans by yours truly. The very first video I ever made was about Ghostbusters (The Real Ghostbusters for Game Boy to be precise) and it was great to get back to talking about the franchise. I had a lot of fun making this video and I hope you have a lot of fun watching it.

Aka: The Darkness Comes

This review is pretty much super late and this is the first time I have not gotten a new video out within a week and a half after the last one. It has been three weeks and I was getting pretty frustrated by that! Originally the video that was to come after the Tony Hawk Game Quickie was a top 10 list (which juggled topics). But due to some life things it got put on hold. Once it had gotten closer to Halloween I decided to do a more holiday related video to precede my Halloween Special and since I had already re-written the top 10 list several times I figured it was for the best anyway.
So I started on a video all about the 8-Bit Left 4 Dead mentioned in this video. I wrote myself into a corner, got stuck in the game, and had video capturing issues making it even more late then it was. Full of panic and stress I re-wrote the script again and made this video, and upon completion realizing I have a week to make a full blown special (Oh my...). I am honestly really happy with this video especially the ending; I've only tried doing something like that one other time. Up until now all my videos while having some jokes here and there have been pretty cut and dry which has been fine for me. I never set out to be another AVGN and have skits and stuff it just wasn't my style; so don't expect skits and extra characters too often but again I am happy with how this turned out. Hope you enjoy it!

Oooops I forgot to make a post for this when it came out four days ago! In any event here it is! Tony Hawk games were constantly in my Gamecube and while the first game is probably my least played it certainly has had an influence on my gaming and gaming in general. Plus, you HAVE to love that soundtrack! I mean it has Suicide Machines AND Goldfinger. You guys know I love me some ska right? Well now you do if you didn't! Also before you ask; no I hate Reel Big Fish and to a lesser extent Less then Jake. What were we talking about again?

Once I stopped being lazy this video wasn't actually all that difficult to make, though I had some issues balancing pictures and game footage. But in the end I am really happy with it, I think I'd put it in my top 5 videos so far. The issues came with that fact that with it being 11 mins long and with so much going on the file was huge. So knowing blip I decided to upload my own FLV as there would be no way they would convert it without timing out.
I experimented with a few programs to get a good flv version and by Monday evening I was satisfied. Since I still had an extra day I messed with it some more and got an even better version! But come that evening when I was uploading it all fell apart. First Blip's FTP server was screwy as it kept kicking me then telling me my password was wrong. So I only got part of the video uploaded. I decided to watch that video to make sure it streamed right....IT DIDN'T. The video just kept buffering so I had to rework the video file and get a good looking one with a lower bit rate. After finally getting that done I couldn't get the FTP to work so I had to use the web upload and hope it didn't time out like it usually does for me. But it is up and all is well! Hope you enjoy this one, I could go on with a back story about when I decided to do this video but I won't as this is already getting long.

Man I just keep having tough videos to do lately! So my retro store (Game X-Change) closed it's doors a little while back. Heartbroken I had to look for a new one and stumbled on Trade-N-Game about the same distance away in the opposite direction. Upon going in I found a store dedicated to guys like me, very small but very cool. I bought some Atari games and a NES game and talked to the owner who was there about his shop and retro games in general. Of course I had to bring up my videos and we talked about RetrowareTV (which he had heard of) and how Racketboy had just been there last month to do an interview with him for the website.

After all that he asked me what type of videos I did and what I reviewed to which he replied "How about books?". Then he gifted me this book (my first donation!) and asked if I would review it; to which I instantly agreed. This was a hard video to first I just had issues putting it together with my scanner not working and getting decent enough scans after that. Then I got really stuck in how to present it since I had never done a video review for a book before. The scripting was easy but for a while I tossed around if it would make an interesting video and thought about going the easy route and making it just a text and picture blog review but I pushed forward. Then I had conflicts if I should do it for Retroware, "Would it be good enough?" I kept wondering; so I almost just put it on Youtube as an exclusive. But in the end I cut it together and actually liked it and thought that others would too. It is certainly not going to get as many views as a standard game review of either those obscure games or the ones with fond memories; as I'm sure like me wondering if it would be most think "Will a video about a collector book be interesting?". Hopefully it is; I'm happy with how it came out and hope you are too.

Another tough one to get out! I spent a lot of time gathering footage and when I went to edit it together I noticed there were an awful lot of scan lines. Testing after testing I came to the conclusion there wasn't much I could do about it. It seems to be an issue with the Genesis 2 I have; I know it has degraded quality then the first model but I never really noticed till now. On my TV it isn't really noticeable (well it is more so now of course because I'm looking for it) but once captured into my computer on the HD monitor, very noticeable. Once again you must live and learn! I haven't done too many reviews with fotoage from a Genesis game and I planned to change that but this may be on hold until I can fix the quality issue (I'd rather avoid emulation). So I may look into getting a model 1 or a clone. Any one wanna help me out? :P

My first Game Quickie! I have been hoping to do one since I first started making Retro Gaming videos. But of course when I started I was not good enough to do one and wasn't part of Retroware. It was shortly after I realized I couldn't do a 6 to 8 min video every week so I decided to do the Shorties to fill the space. I will confess they were both for my sanity and a brown nose/attention grabbing attempt haha. The name was conceived the have something "similar" and kind of a tribute to them and was the best name to describe what they were; plus I thought the name was really catchy with its multiple meanings in culture today. For example as the current slang goes it describes a cute girl and I meant for these to be cute and light hearted more so then the normal episodes.
Anyway as the video says in the beginning Star Fox was a request by fan and friend Ron. I had been putting this off long enough and now here it is! Still really excited to be on Retroware and hope you all enjoy the video!

So this partnership has been in the works for a little while and I am so happy to be apart of the site. It all started with Ben (from VGTO) and I can't thank him enough. So from here on out all RetroActive videos will be posted over at RetrowareTV and I encourage you to go be apart of the site. If you are a Retro Gaming fan it is the site for you. I am still going to be providing content to The Geek Fighters on occasion and am thankful for their help getting me this far. I will still distribute my videos to Youtube so if you subscribe there you will see them; how this is gonna happen is in the works.

The video was a PAIN to get up. Hilariously I RUSHED to get this video done after the Tiny Toon video as that was being released too early to be ready for the site. So I pushed and pushed to get it done just 5 days later and I did it (never doing that again). But Ito hit a snag and Retroware wasn't ready to post my video. So I took a little break and had everything ready to upload and come Monday night everything was ready. I uploaded late that night so it could sneak in and be posted and converted just in time for the morning. Well Blip failed the conversion. In a mad rush I uploaded a different file and again it failed. So I had to find a way to convert it FLV on my own and finally it got posted. A few audio spikes from the conversion and an error for about 10 seconds in the intro aside it was up and looking great. Live and learn! Blip support will not help me with why a 88mb 10 min Mp4 file will not convert; I'm very un happy. But I'm thrilled it is up and getting a great response.

First thing I'm gonna do is relax for a day and catch up on other things, then I'm making a new intro in hopes to fix this flash error (it has happened on GT once as well not sure what the issue is). Then after that back to the videos with a Shortie first.

RetroActive Intro Videos! A look back

Today I have retired the second of two intro videos I made for the RetroActive series.
While maybe not a big deal to you these mark two big points in the young series' life for me. The first being the first attempt ever at serious video editing and producing my own series and the second retirement marking when I've moved up in technology, popularity, and as the series grows into other sites wanting it exclusive to their site. It has been a crazy ride! On July 4th I will have been doing this for only 4 months, and it is hard to imagine. I've met and worked with several nice people, watched people tell me they love my work, and found I have talents I was not aware of in the slightest. Of course there has been the bad like people telling me I need to shave my ugly facial hair (yeah...) or that I am boring; but even that has been fun!

Here are the two videos and I hope you enjoy them! Thank you so much for watching and your support!

Technically the first video I ever made for RetroActive as it was completed before I ever finished the first episode. Was retired and replaced with one a little more "intense"

So many good things have been happening! This is a very exciting time for me right now ^_^

RetroActive Shortie: Adventures of LoLo

The first RetroActive Shortie! These will basically be games I don't feel would be interesting to talk about for the usual 7 to 9 min videos but need to be talked about. So I condense them down and do a quick overview!
The choice for the spelling "Shortie" is because I like the spelling better and because the slang use usually means a "short cute girl" and I had intended these to be shorter and much more lighthearted.

RetroActive Episode 2: Whomp 'Em

I actually managed to do a second episode in a week like schedule!

So in this episode we look at the Mega Man "clone" Whomp 'Em by Jaleco. A decent game, and one of the games I have owned the longest and by some miracle I still have it in box with manual. Is it worth you picking up? Well watch the video and see!

Some updates about RetroActive:
-I originally said I was going to keep the show diverse and review things outside of retro gaming. This is no longer the case! Though I will do these type of videos they will be under a different name at a later date.
-The show will probably now be bi weekly and I will flip between doing an episode of Spooky's Corner then RetroActive.
-I will not always do full length episodes and will fill gaps with Quickie videos.

Due to some unfortunate things just really bringing stuff to a halt (like right now my apartment is flooding; not kidding) the two videos may not be out on Monday like I had planned.

Thanks for all the views and kind words so far; I really appreciate it. The servers aren't bursting at the seams or anything but the video has gotten enough views (especially for only what 2 and half days?) that I am very happy with the first try ^_^

I have 2 videos I'm going to get working on! Hopefully they will be to your liking.

Spooky's Corner Episode 1: The Real Ghostbusters Gameboy

So Spooky's Corner is an idea I have for this series and sub series of videos related to my Ghostbusters fandom. I have been a fan of the movies and cartoons since I was two (I'm not kidding it's been that long) and it has been a huge influence on me. So to kind of get the ball rolling I originally was gonna do a quick review of the new Minimates and give some thoughts on them. But as time went on I had a better idea; to give this a real test run and test if I could do reviews of movies and video games as a separate show like I'm thinking I want to do later down the road I should review a game most people don't talk about. So here we have this video!
